Shelter inside this half term with these home-baking recipes – featuring an unexpected twist…

February 21, 2022

Ok, so it’s not the most ideal half term weather is it?

If you’re not feeling too keen on venturing outdoors this week, and are looking for ideas to keep the kids entertained, then we’ve got a plan!

Baking is a brilliant way to both pass the time, and pass on vital cookery skills to youngsters that will serve them throughout their life.

But this is porc, we hear you say, surely you have no cake recipes? Well, you would be wrong!

Adding bacon into traditionally sweet items can really bring them to life – the saltiness, and crispness, adds a punch of flavour to every mouthful.

Trust us, give these a go and not only will you have great fun in the kitchen together but you can both experiment and try something new this half term.

We’d love to see any pics of your bakes – feel free to tag us on social media with your photos!

Cheese and bacon scones

You may well have had a plain cheese scone before, but we think adding crispy bacon brings added contrast to the mellow, creaminess of the cheese. You can eat these as a lovely lunchtime treat served with some pickles, relishes or ham.

Maple bacon brownies

Chocolate chips, cocoa powder, maple syrup and sugar…. and streaky bacon of course! These really are little bites of chocolate heaven for those with a real sweet tooth.
