Firstly, a massive thank you to everyone who took part in this year’s ‘Put Your Best Sausage Forward’ competition. The standard and volume of entries has been exceptional.
Choosing the best three entries has not been an easy task (albeit tasty!). However, the judging panel from Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) and award-winning butcher, Mark McArdle, were unanimous in their decision and are delighted to announce the three shortlisted finalists:
- Prendergast Butchers (Prendergast Gold)
- Puff Pigs (Chilli and garlic sausages)
- Red Valley Pigs (Wild garlic sausages)
What happens next on the quest for best sausage?
The final of the ‘Put Your Best Sausage Forward’ competition will take place at 11am on Thursday 21 July at the Royal Welsh Show, and will be one of the highlights of the week on the HCC stand.
Featuring Chris ‘Flamebaster’ Roberts as our guest judge, the final will be an extra special occasion this year as the winner will receive the coveted title in person, rather than virtually. The lucky winner will also automatically qualify for the UK-wide Champion of Champions Sausage competition, which will take place at the Butcher Shop of the Year Awards in February 2023.
We will be profiling the shortlisted entries over the coming weeks and announcing the winner via the Porc Blasus social media channels, later this month. Good luck to the finalists!
