Ingredients

  • 2 lean pork chops or loin steaks
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed
  • 2.5cm piece of root ginger, peeled and grated
  • 3 ripe plums, stones removed and cut into quarters
  • 5 tbsp black bean sauce
  • 60ml orange juice
  • 8-10 black seedless grapes, cut in half
  • a large handful of spring cabbage, thinly shredded
  • 2 pak choi heads, sliced

Method

A savory and sweet stir-fry with pork chops, plums, grapes, and black bean sauce, served with crispy noodles and vegetables. A quick and tasty meal.

  1. Heat one tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or frying pan and add the onion, garlic, ginger and pork chops or steaks. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the meat has browned and the onions have begun to soften.
  2. With the pork browning, add the plums, black bean sauce, orange juice and grapes. Now mix together well, cover with a lid and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  3. Next, take a separate deep pan or wok, heat one teaspoon of vegetable oil and the sesame oil and stir-fry the vegetables for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Serve the chops or steaks on a bed of crispy noodles and stir-fried vegetables, drizzled with the sauce.
