Cardiff shoppers enjoy a ‘Posh Dog’ in the sun

October 4, 2018

Despite it being late September, the sun was shining down on Porc Blasus and our Posh Sausage Pop Up in Cardiff city centre on 24 September.

For one day only, we teamed up with Huw and Ela from Oinc Oink — winners of the Put Your Best Sausage Forward competition at the Royal Welsh Show earlier this year – to offer the shoppers and workers of Wales’s capital their very own taste of quality, locally-reared porc.

The best bit? It was all completely FREE!

In a twist on the usual pop up event, customers were treated to a silver service experience, complete with tables, chairs and their very own black-tie waiting staff – serving up the posh sausages with a wide range of condiments.

Elwen Roberts of Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) was the chef for the day and as lunchtime approached, the smell of freshly cooked sausages started to waft down Queen Street and the queues started forming.

The sausages in question were Oinc Oink’s speciality bangers, comprising the best porc from Wales – reared at their Gwynedd farm – coupled with vintage Welsh cheddar from South Caernarfon Creameries. And they didn’t last long; within 90 minutes of service starting, all 150 of the sausages had been cooked, served and eaten by the hungry public.

Thanks to the coverage in local and national press, the event proved very popular and we hope that it has fulfilled our aim to highlight the availability of quality porc from Wales and informed the public about our Porc Blasus members – particularly Oinc Oink who spoke to many satisfied customers on the day.

In the true spirit of the pop up, the whole event took only a couple of hours and the special Porc Blasus hot dog cart was packed away for another day – maybe we’ll pop up in your town or city soon, keep your eyes peeled!
