Firstly, we’d like to thank all the producers who entered this year’s ‘Put Your Best Sausage Forward’ competition. The standard of entries has been exceptional and choosing the best three entries has not been an easy task.
However, the judging panel from Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) and award-winning butcher, Mark McArdle, were unanimous in their decision and are delighted to announce the three shortlisted finalists:
Reigning champions for the past two years, Red Valley Farm, have once more reached the final, as well as last year’s finalists Prendergast Butchers, who will be hoping this year is theirs. Popular producer and retailer Edwards of Conwy are a new entry and have made the cut for the first time this year.
What happens next on the quest for best sausage?
The final of the ‘Put Your Best Sausage Forward’ competition will take place on the afternoon of Thursday 27 July at the Royal Welsh Show, and will be one of the highlights of the week on the HCC stand.
The lucky winner will also automatically qualify for the UK-wide Champion of Champions Sausage competition, which will take place at the Butcher Shop of the Year Awards in February 2024.
